Moreton Bay Regional Council

A planned hazard reduction and ecological burn was conducted in 2021 at Albany Creek by Moreton Bay Regional Council. Biodiverse Environmental assisted MBRC throughout the planning and on the ground management by conducting a fauna habitat assessment prior to the burn which included raking fire breaks around significant habitat trees to ensure they were not destroyed and or did not become potential hazards during the burn. Biodiverse also provided Fauna Spotter Catchers to work closely with the fire teams during the burn to monitor habitat features, Koalas and other wildlife within the burn area and ensure they remained safe and where required relocated wildlife to safe zones.

Information on burn intensity, ecological outcomes and fauna species located was recorded and recommendations provided for future consideration.
